Long-overdue update

It´s been about a year since I seriously updated this site. What happened?

Lots.

Last October, we moved Dave´s dad up from Florida to Maine. It was a good move, but it took lots of time and care, almost a full-time job for Dave for several months. Art is doing very well at the Dirigo Pines assisted living facility in Bangor. Dave sees him at least twice a week, I go about once every week or two.

About the same time, wind turbines came to town. At least, that was the plan of the wind companies and the local politicians, one of whom was a leaseholder and another of whom stands to get tens of thousands of construction dollars from the project. Why would environmentalists like us have a problem with wind turbines? It´s a long story, but the summary is: Corruption, greed, misinformation, lack of compensation for industrial development in rural areas, and corporate control. If you want to know more, go to our Industrial Wind page.

I´m doing lots of consulting work in tobacco control. Most of it is interesting, and it´s bringing in income. A consultant can´t complain about not having to look for clients. But it does mean less time for other things, like this website!

But I got some new plug-ins for my cheap web design software that make updates and design easier, so I´m making another good faith attempt at all of this.

Coming up next (at least that´s the plan):

Grain trials
